Rating: Summary: An All-Star Book Review: This was one of my favorite books in years not even my favorite book the lord of the rings was as good as this.I think that most 10-12 year olds would enjoy this book especially if you liked watching James bond or secret agent books with crazy gadgets and incredible missions.I especially liked the parts were Alex was investigating his uncle's crashed car in the junkyard and the crane was taking the car to the compacter to become a metal cube with Alex still inside.
Alex was my favorite character because he would do things that most kids wouldn't like risk his life for the country. It takes guts to go and face somebody who you know isn't gonna let you live if he figures who you work for and who you are.All in all this book is great for teens, preteen and i recommend this book to anybody who likes secret missions.
Rating: Summary: James Bond only better Review: This book review is for Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz. This book is 192 pages long and is a Mystery book. Stormbreaker won a Rebecca Caudill award in 2001. I think this book is an awesome book. I enjoyed it a lot.
This story is about a boy named Alex Rider who is 14 and lived with his uncle, Ian Rider until he found out he died in a car accident. But when he found his uncle's car in a junkyard, he saw bullet holes in the windshield and on the headrests of the driver's seat. He knew now that it was no accident and that someone murdered him. After the funeral, Alex follows a man that he met at the funeral to where his uncle worked. His uncle worked at a bank. Then Alex realizes that it wasn't a bank. Alex met the man from the funeral and found out his name was Alan Blunt. Blunt told him all about his uncle being a secret agent for M16 and that his uncle died in a top secret mission. So Blunt convinces Alex to be apart of M16. Then Alex trains with other agents in survival courses. After a few weeks Blunt tells him to go on a mission going undercover as a boy named Felix and see what's happening. Alex then meets a woman named Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Jones introduces him to a man named Smithers, who makes gadgets for missions and so he gives some to Alex. When he gets to the place for the mission, he meets Herod Sayle, Mr. Grin, and Nadia Vole. They let him try the Stormbreaker, a computer program with any subject in it like Math, Science, French, etc. After that, he heard that something important was coming at 1:30am. So he snuck out at midnight and made it to the back of a truck that was going to the place with the important thing. He saw a submarine and Yassen Gregorovich, the Russian contract killer who murdered his uncle. Then Alex found out that they put a smallpox virus in it so when the prime minister starts the Stormbreaker, it will kill thousands of schoolchildren. Alex makes it on time and stops the prime minister from clicking it. But Herod Sayle is nowhere to be seen. After getting congratulated by Blunt and Mrs. Jones, he gets out of the building. Then a car pulls over right in front of him. Herod Sayle comes out and points a gun at Alex. He tells Alex to get in the car. He took him to the rooftop of a building, a helicopter came. Herod Sayle pointed the gun at Alex. Then there were two gunshots. Then...... You have to read the book to see what happens next.
The author's ideas were great. Like all the gadgets he made up. I liked the Game Boy Color gadget. That was awesome. It can find things and send things. If you put in He had other cool gadgets.
The settings were great. Horowitz put a lot of detail in them. You could easily paint a picture in you head of these places.
This book was one of the best books I've read. It was spectacular! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I know they would enjoy it.
