Summary: Boring Book
Review: I think that this book is very boring. The plot is very weak: she runs away from her house, is in the wilderness, meets a pack of wolves, lives with them, and returns home. This is the worst book in the world and I strongly suggest not buying it.

Summary: "Julie of the Wolves"
Review: I go to WMA and in Language Arts class; we have to read a book every month. Then at the end of the month, we give an oral report. I did not like this book that much because the author did not explain the characters that well or their feelings. Nor things were that realistic. Also, that is was long and it did not have that much information. This book is for people you like not that much detail and adventure. You can read it to see, you may like it.

Summary: Julie of the Wolves Book Review
Review: ...By Wang

...Jean ... She got the idea for this book after she saw a girl walking alone in the tundra to visit a faraway friend. Her other inspiration was a regal alpha male wolf in the Denali National Park. ...

The story begins in the freezing artic winter. Miyax, a thirteen-year-old Eskimo girl, is alone on the tundra-covered North Slope of Alaska. She has spent several days without much nourishment. Now she has turned to a pack of wolves. She is hoping to learn to communicate with them. Then, hopefully, the pack will give her food from their hunt. So far, her attempts have been hopeless. But, if her father, Kapugen had once done it, so could she.

Miyax had been watching the pack for days. She was Eskimo. Eskimos, like other Native Americans, had great respect for nature. Although Miyax sometimes believed the old Eskimo traditions were a little silly, she did love nature. ... The alpha male, or leader of the pack, was Amaroq, the Eskimo word for wolf. His mate was the beautiful Silver. Amaroq's friend was Nails. ...There was also another who didn't stick with the rest of the pack as much: Jello. He was small and quite wiggly.

Reading Julie of the Wolves was like going on an epic adventure through the artic tundra. On a scale of one to ten, I'd give this book an eleven. It's not at all surprising that Jean Craighead George won a Newbery Medal for this book. I liked it when Miyax communicated to the wolves. ... I recommend that anyone who enjoys nature read Julie of the Wolves!

Summary: Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George
Review: I in particular did not enjoy this book. It seemed to wander around aimlessly, and it often lost my attention. I couldn't comprehend as to what the character was feeling, because the author made the character distant and not easily understood. Her life might have been toutching if the author had spent more time on her emotions than her making and mending clothing.
If you like books that don't go into depth with the characters, or you simply love the outdoorsy stuff too much to care, then go on ahead and read it. But if you don't, be forewarned that Julie of the Wolves is not the most exciting book in creation.

Summary: Cold Year In the Tundra
Review: I like Julie of the Wolves, because it is exciting. It is realistic fiction. Julie, the main character, has to go to school one day. Her father has to go to war. When she was thirteen, she married Daniel.
Daniel goes crazy, so Julie runs away in the Alaskan Tundra, the setting. She finds some wolves, and she watches them for a few weeks. Then she becomes a member of the pack. One day she knows she has to leave.
One day Julie leaves, but the pack follows her. She likes their company. Julie remembers about the letter from Amy her pen pal. She decieds to go live with Amy.
Amy lives in San Francisco. She was close to the ship that was going to bring her to San Francisco, when she said to her self that I have a choice to live like an Eskimo or like a plain girl.
I recommend this book to all readers!

Summary: Saddenes on the Tundra
Review: Miyax, the main character, lived in Barrow, Alaska. She got married to Daniel. She did not like him. She ran away to the setting that is the Alaska tundra. Little by little she was accepted by a pack of wolves. Half of the reason she left Barrow was, because she wanted to live with her pen pal in San Francisco. She always flashes back to things her father said and taught her. As she is making her way to San Francisco, the leader of the wolf pack gets shot. Miyax carves a totem to remember Amorq. Will Miyax get to San Francisco or will she give up? I recommend this realistic fiction third person point of view book to anybody that would read it. This book is very interesting and good. If you want to know the exciting climax read on. I hope you like the book. You should learn quite a bit of information. I learned a lot. I loved this exciting book! Have fun and enjoy!

Summary: Miyax's Great Adventure
Review: Miyax's Great Adventure
Miyax, the main character, is thirteen years old and has to go and live with her aunt. She has an unexpected marriage to a boy named Daniel. She does not like her husband, Daniel. She decides to run away from her aunt and Daniel. She gets welcomed into a pack of wolves. Here she gets food and names the wolves. Miyax named the leader of the pack Amraque. She tries to survive in the Alaskan Wilderness with the wolves. Will Miyax survive in the Alaskan Wilderness? I like this book very much, because it is realistic fiction. Also because the climax is very exciting. If you read this book I am sure you will learn something. I learned that the wolves eat big chunks of meat and regurgitate the food for their pups. There is also a sequel to this book. It is called Julie Sky. If you read this book, I am sure you will like it.

Summary: Julie of the Wolves Review
Review: This was a wonderful book with an excellent portrayal of the Alaskan tundra. As Miyax journeys to find her inner self, she also sturggles with the external conflicts of surviving the harsh winters of Alaska. After being befriended by a pack of wolves, she begins to apprecitate her Alaskan heritage. I recommend this book to children of all ages, for its meaning should be an inspiration to all those who read it.
