Summary: Ali's Review
Review: Karen Hesse has written a wonderful book.
It is about a small town and the people in it and how everyone deals with the Ku Klux Klan.
Everyone in the town is a main character in my eyes.
The story is like a diary with each person inputting their own story of the day.
It is a wonderful story how it all weaves together at the end.
But it will keep you thinking what will happen next.

My Witness Review

The book Witness is a great book by Karen Hesse. She developed the characters so well it was great for this book. It is about 12 year old Leonora Sutter who is with her father in Vermont. They are the only African Americans in town. Also, the Klu Klux Klan is after not only them but also 6 year old Esther Hirsh and her father. When something horrible happens to a Jewish man there is a lot of commotion in the air. This is such a good book so read it now.

Review: The people of this 1924 Vermont town are struggling to cope with the dangers of the 1920's.This book is a wonderful book. It shows what 1924 was really like. I t shows the hardships of the world we once lived in with prejudice and hatred. With the voices of 11 interesting characters this book is a unique book, written in free-verse poetry. The Klan sneaks into every cranny and crevasse of the town, up to no good. How will Leonora Sutter and her father, the only African Americans in the town, survive the Klu Klux Klan? How will Esther Hirsh, a little 6 year old survive the Klu Klux Klan? How will the town survive? Will the prejudice and hatred fade away? Will the Klu Klux Klan fade away? All this will be found out if you read the book. This book was read in my literature class. It was one of the best books we have read in our class. This is a great, five-star book!

Summary: PRAISE FOR A STAR STUDDED WITNESS
Review: Hesse has created a gem! She has shown the hidden hypocritical qualities of the human race through a small town in Vermont. She has given each character a distinct personality that is unforgettable. Her characters voice opinions that for so long people have thought but have never said. But can this town survive when the Ku Klux Klan arrives? Or will they take away 6-year old Esther`s naive personality along with her life? Will the people of the town work together? Or will African-American Leanora Sutter die because of ignorance? When wife turns against husband is there any hope? Will these witnesses give way to the Klan, or stand strong?

Summary: Review for Witness
Review: The book Witness, a Newbary award winner, is about a nice town in Vermont, 1924. The town is peaceful until the klu klux klan bribes the people into letting them in their town. Actually the klan is only a bunch of racists looking to take over the town. Two families, the Sutters who are African american and the Hirshes who are Jewish are being hunted by the klan. Two examples of them being chased was that lit a cross on the hill symbolising that they weren't welcome and they tried to shoot Esther hish a six year old but hit her father. Later in the book, the town realizes that the klan wasn't what they said they were. Now part of the town wanted the klan to leave. The other part of the town acompanied by Johnny Reeves the Preacher and Harvey Pettibone are against what the other people think. In the beginning of the book it starts a little slow but then it gets really exiting and you want to know what happens next. I think you should really considre reading this book.

Summary: Ms.Berg's class @ Rancho Solano
Review: The book Witness takes place in Vermont in 1924. The Ku Klux Klan comes to town, and a lot of people are unsafe because the Klan is only a group of people with Catholics in it. Two people that are unsafe are Ira (Mr. Hirsh) and Esther, Ira's daughter because they are Jewish. A lot of problems happen because of the Klan coming to town. I would rate this book to be four stars. My dislike about this book is that the book was a little hard to follow. It was a good story line though. I think that you should read the book because it was very interesting.

Summary: Review of Wittness
Review: A small town in Vermont in the nineteen twenties is peaceful until the Klu Klux Klan move in. No one is safe, especially Leanora, a twelve year old African American girl and Esther, a six year old Jewish girl. The KKK spread racist ideas and commit dreadful acts against innocent people. Fortunately Leanora and Esther survive the hate and horror that the KKK bring to the small town.
In an intriguing way, Karen Hesse helps us learn about racism, life, and death in Vermont in the early nineteen hundreds.
