all those things. The story takes place in Vermont 1924. A real
qustion is about Johny Reeves does he look up to the Klan or God.
The Klan is in the town and he just lyes to the people of the town. they call people like him fake preachers. I'd say he's a criminal he plans to kill at night and ly at day. Witness is an interesting book I think you should buy it today.The towns people must reunite and take the Klan down. Plus I encourage you to buy this book today, It's really great!

Review: The book Witness, by Karen Hesse, deserves 4 stars, and here is why...Witness starts out kind of slow, but as you get farther,Witness will transfer you from laying down on the sofa, to sitting on the edge of your seat.While the book takes place in Vermont in 1924, 6 year old Esther Hirsh, and 12 year old Leonora Sutter, have to accept the fact that when the klu klux klan comes to town, everyone in the towns lives are about to change.Right when the klan moves in, the towns folk know that the KKK mean no good. As the Hirshes live a fairly normal life, their life is turned by the Klan. The Sutters are also living in hate from the KKK, Leonora learns that even if they do it to you, that doesn't mean that you have to do it to them, and she also learns that African-Americans are very important on earth.
This book is one of the best books ever made for sure! If you love a book that alows you to get inside the minds and consciouses of a books characters, Witness is the book for you!

Review: The book Witness, written in free verse poetry, gives the thoughts and opinions of eleven different characters at a time when the Ku Klux Klan finds its way to the small town of Vermont in the year 1924. The people most endangered by the Klan are the Jews, six-year-old Esther Hirsh and her father Ira Hirsh, and the African-Americans, Leonora Sutter, and her father Wright Sutter. Some of the people from the town, such as eighteen-year-old Merlin Van Tournhout, preacher Johnny Reeves, and Harvey Pettibone, husband of Viola Pettibone and shop owner, join the Ku Klux Klan. Will they kick out the Klan or let them take over the town? Will the townspeople realize their mistakes about the Klan before it is too late?

Review: The book Witness was a very good book for young adults to adults. It is very well written and is very exciting for the reader to read. The book has everything to comedy to horror. But the ending to me was kind of slow and bad cause it did not tell what happened. I gave this book four stars because of that and the swaring. Ot had too much bad words but that was how they talked back then. The book would be suitible for the ages 11 and above so order it quick and let the adventure begin!

I Absolutely Love This Book And It Is A Book That Makes You Wants To Turn The Page. This Book Is Also Filled With Free Verse Poetry. The 11 Characters Have Extreme Emotions Like When They Are Happy They Are Happy And When They Are Mad They Are Mad. The Book Takes Place In 1924 Also Is About The Ku Klux Klan Taking Over Their Small Town In Virginia, Which Is Almost A Tragedy With A Small Klan. The Klan Is Against A Few People In This Book Like 12-Year-Old Lenora Sutter Who Is Black And 6 Year Old Esther Hirsh And Her Father Ira Hirsh Who Are Jewish. Sara Checkering Is Like Esther's Mother And Is A Farmer. Merlin Van Tornhout Is 18 And Is A Prejudice. Percille Johnson Is A Town Constable And Is A Prejudice Too. Johnny Reeves Is The Preacher And Is A Prejudice As Well. Iris Weaver Is A Restaurant Owner And A Rumrunner That Was Prohibited In 1924. Then There Is Fitzgerald Flit Is A Dr., And Reynard Alexander Who Is A Newspaper Editor. But Nobody Can Forget Harvey And Viola Pettabone Who Provide Comic Relief. I'd Rate This Book Five Out Of Five Because Of All The Things I Just Wrote.

Karen Hesse tells this story in free-verse form, giving each character a distinguished style and way. Two-time Newberry award winner, Karen Hesse forces you to look for hidden meanings. I would give this book five out of five stars and found this book intense and exciting, and I would also highly recommend you read it.

Review: In a small Vermont town lies a lot of big problems. Karen Hesse has developed a line of charachters that have to stick together and help others from different races, to survive the harsh conditions of the Ku Klux Klan. They will do anything to get the members of the town to join them. The Klan threaten to kill anyone not like them. In Witness, you get to decide between right and wrong, good and bad. In the book, Karen Hesse makes free verse poems that allow you to look inside the charachters and see what they are really thinking. This is a great litterature book that will bring out the readers imagination. This book is four stars and a Christopher Award winner and great for kids eight and up. Witness is a must read book, good for any occasion.

Review: Witness is an awesome book! It makes you want to think about what is happening. It is written in pretty much riddles. They are riddles that need to be solved, in order to know what is going on. Sometimes, though, it may be very hard to understand. It also leaves the reader hanging in the end. Overall, this book was very well written.

It left the reader not knowing what would happen next. It's nice how it's in free verse poetry, so people could learn about other ways of writing. It had a lot of history behind it. It shows the reader how much hate America had.I rate this book thre out of five stars.

Review: The novel Witness is an excellent book by Karen Hesse. This free verse poem book takes place in Vermont, 1924. The town's people are in danger of the Klu Klux Klan. The Klan's target is to kill or get Leanora Sutter's and Esther Hirsh's family out of town. Esther Hirsh is a 6 year-old Jewish girl who lives with her father. Leanora Sutter is a 12 year-old black girl who also lives with her father. Both of these children have only their fathers and it is hard to get through their life with the Klan on their case. With Sara Chickering standing by Esther's side and being like a mother to her, Esther feels safe. The vicious Klan members killed Esther's dad, her favorite dog, and threw a rock with a note wrapped around it through their window. They tried to warn them that if they didn't leave town bad things would happen. Johnny Reeves, a clergyman, kills both the dog and Esther's dad. Most of the town's people feel that the Klan has teared America apart.
