Summary: Outstanding story, by an extraordinary author.
Review: Avi's story of a young boy and his determination to save his dying father is one of the best books written for middle school age children I have ever read. I use this book with the students I teach and they are as touched by the story as I am. Highly recommended!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good Book.
Review: Ben, Nattie, and Harrison tried to build a barn the biggest in Oregon Territory. All Of them tried hard and built it themselves. Ben was the one who always said we can't get eny help. The reason why they built it is beacuse the wanted to give it to there sick father. When there father saw the barn it made him well again.

Summary: worst book
Review: I totally loved this book! I am a 12 year old girl, and I had to do a book report on a book, so I picked up this book. I thought it would be extreamly boring, but since I've finished reading it, I LOVE it! I especially love the ending!!! It is officially THE VERY BEST!

Summary: Courageous Charactors
Review: The Barn is a heartwarming story about Ben, a 9 year old boy living in the 1800's who builds a barn with his 13 year old brother and 15 year old sister. Ben hopes the barn will help his father recover from a stroke. This is a timeless story about growing up and facing challenges in a courageous manner. Avi's style of writing is very simplistic and straight forward in this book.

Summary: Barn Heart
Review: THE BARN is a quick read novel, set in Oregon in l855. It is the story of how the construction of a simple barn, a dying father's wish, transforms the lives and bonding between three children and their father. Harrison, Nettie, and Ben, each had a different reason for agreeing to build the barn. The vision of the barn, standing strong on their farm property, remained a source of strength, satisfaction, love, and family pride throughout their lifetime. It was a true family gift.

Summary: Courageous Charactors
Review: The Book The Barn by AVI, is probably one of the best books I have read in my lifetime. I love the way Ben does everything he can to help save his father. The part about him using the stars as a compass, just to build a barn to try and save his fathers life, was great. This boy was risking everything he had, but had reason. His dad was very sick and all he wanted to do was save him. I love this book!

Summary: worst book
Review: The book was horrible to read. Anyone that said it was good must be related to the author. The characters had no development. It was boring, depressing, and disgusting to read about how these kids had to clean up their father after he went to the bathroom. I am telling you not to read this book.

Summary: A must read!
Review: This book takes place in Oregon during the 1850s. 9-year-old Ben was sent home from boarding school with the word that his father had taken ill. He has a 13-year-old brother, Harrison, and a 15-year-old sister. He is now nothing more than a vegetable. Now, not only do they have to harvest the crop without their fathers help, but they must also care for their father too. His father can't talk to him, so it will be a difficult task. Ben finds out from his brother and sister that his father had been hoping to build a barn before Ben came from school. He persuades Harrison and Nettie that they must build it to give Father a reason to live, but that that they have to build it alone, without the help of their neighbors. They manage to stack rocks for the base, and build walls, and a roof. After barn is finally finished, follows a horrible ending.
