Summary: A heart-warming, realistic story
Review: As an education professional involved with young people I read these books a lot. I was moved by this tale and found it paralleled the lives of some young people I know. I could hardly wait to read the sequel. Ms Voight has also branched out in her later works, even into historical novels. She is a writer to be reckoned with.

Summary: Watch out, it is really bad
Review: I was forced to read this book for school this year (6th grade) and it was terrible. With shallow characters, tedious description, and boring dialogue, all this book's good for is firewood.Dont waste your money

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: This is the first book in the "Tillerman Saga" and one of my favorite books ever. I first read it when I was twelve, and was fascinated by the courage Dicey displayed. I just turned 21, and on re-reading it I find it to have grown better with age. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how four kids could survive a summer mostly on their own, or learning about how just because people look one way on the outside doesn't mean that is what they are really like; actually, I'd recommed this book, and the rest to anyone.
