Summary: Don't miss this writer and illustrator's first novel.
Review: As an adult reading a book written by a teenager, I was very impressed. Ms. Hector, whom I knew as a young child, shows the ability of an experienced writer. Her knowledge of horses, the rodeo and country music all combine to make the book educational, as well as entertaining. She deals with the problems that anyone might experience when having to make new friends, and fit into a different way of life. The 'six second slack' at the end of the story has me looking forward to Rachel Claus Hector's next novel. And a great job on the front cover!

Summary: Believable characters, wholesome storyline
Review: Both my daughter and myself enjoyed this story. The characters come alive, and the storyline flows leaving you wanting more. I recommend this book to the young and the young at heart, and especially to those interested in the world of Rodeo. You'll leave this book with the feeling that you can hear the sounds of the rodeo, and that you were very much a part of it. Thank you Rachel for making it so real!

Summary: has potential but not book material
Review: i could say this story has potential, but unless you love love love horses, this novel hasnt much of a story=plot. it doesnt have that grip in the beginning to keep you reading. the characters are great in that they can be related to, however, there was poor character development. the description does deserve high praise, however a better way of telling this story with potential would heighten hector's talent in descriptious writing. perhaps the author of the story will develop more in her following novels. sure, the fact that she is a teen that is published is impressive, and we know she can write more than a hundred pages. great. now show us something more. something inspirational perhaps. at least she's not just telling the story, she is trying to show characters's emotions, but there's little spark in this novel. id say its for age 12 and under. come on, dont judge a book by the writer's age. stop all this 'potential' stuff, or, 'wow, she's only a 15-16!?' - a good book is a good book. theres no such thing as a book thats good for one age and terrible for another. come on. wed scoff at this if david baldacci or any other new york times bestseller wrote it.

Summary: it was great
Review: i really thought that this book was very good. i thought it was a very good example of the thoughts and life of a teen that has moved. it showed how she started out mad that she had to move. she had been living in washington and then suddenly she had to move. she had to learn a new way of riding, meet new friends, and get used to changes. i think that this is a very realistic book. i really enjoyed reading it and i could not put down till' i was finished.

Summary: This would have been my favorite when I was 12
Review: I'm an adult who once was a horse-crazy pre-teenager (.... I would have loved this book back then, for the life lessons it offers, for the horsey flavor I craved, and for the very adult twist at the end. In this work, Hector avoids the temptation to sugar-coat reality. I look forward to the pleasure of reading Hector's future books.

Summary: The best horse book ever
Review: Rachel, you are the best girl! I absolutely love this book but if the Herald would ever give me my copy back I would be able to read it again. By the way, when you gonna start working on the sequal huh? Always you are working on Megan and Jason you need to finish the second book to appease your fans! Much love darling and keep on writing!
