Rating: Summary: Referemce Books for Children, 4th edition Review: _Reference Books for Children_, 4th edition, authored by Carolyn Sue Peterson and Ann D. Fenton, is an excellent selection tool for children's librarians. The book is divided into two sections. The first part provides information on evaluating reference books and conducting the "reference interview". The second part gives over 1,000 annotated entries with bibliographic information on reference books and selection tools suited for elementary and junior high school level students. Other helpful information in this book includes what reference material actually is and pertinent criteria for selecting reference sources. The authors are well established librarians in Florida as well as this book is reviewed and recommended in several reputable sources including _The Elementary School Library Collection_ and _The Elementary and Middle & Junior High School Library Catalogs_. As a children's librarian I highly recommend this book also. I found it very useful for selecting reference material for my elementary school libraries.
