Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: ...I thought that this book was well writen. So many girls have to putup with this kind of treatment. I do not believe that this book wasment to be "educational" ...it is FICTION! Plus-not tomention that the author is a GUY! He did a great job writing this bookfrom a GIRLS point of view(even though the story was told through the3rd person method...),this guy(John Neufeld) knows his stuff...
Rating: Summary: Great, eye-opening book Review: I read this book after I heard it contained mature content but was available in the junior high school library for 6th graders and up. The protagonist is described as "stacked" and the Follett Library Resources summarizes the plot in the following way: "Eager for their first sexual experience, three 8th grade boys convince themselves that 'a girl like Gina really wants it' and they plan a gang bang at her house." I thought the book did little to address the "boys will be boys" mentality of our culture and almost promoted the notion that thinking about forcing oneself on a girl was normal 8th-grade-boy behavior. I found the writing to be mediocre and the dialogue between teenagers inauthentic. I wondered what motivated the author to portray a grandmother in the story as "cool" when she let her 8th grade grandson add vodka to his bloody mary. I would not recommend this book at all. It does nothing to help educate people about sexuality issues during adolescence and manages to promote some harmful stereotypes about teens. I found it to be sensational and not appropriate for the recommended grade level.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put the book down! Review: I started reading it just for a book report but I got so into it I couldn't put it down! I read it everywhere I went and got some of my friends to read it too. All with the same reaction. This book is a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Great, eye-opening book Review: I thought the book "boys lie" was great. It really opened my eyes to see how some boys see things and exactly how far off they really are. I thought it was very well-written and kept you wanting to read. It has changed my view of guys somewhat. Although it may be a mature subject, it is approached well and there is a need for books like this. Overall, I thought it was great.
Rating: Summary: Boys Lie Review: If you are looking for the best book ever than this is the book to look into! This book is called "Boys Lie." This is such a good book because it sounds like a true story and it really does sound so real when you read it. The details in the book are so specific that it just makes it so interesting. At the end of the book you just wanted to keep reading even though there were no more pages to turn. The book "Boys Lie" is by John Neufeld. The book has to do with a girl about 14 years old who is being tortured and raped by these boys from school. This girl has to keep moving because of these boys doing this stuff to her. I really liked this book because it is so entertaining that you just dont want to tear your eyes away from it. Sometimes you want to cry and sometimes you want to laugh but whatever way you express your feelings, you will never forget this book. When i read this book I put myself into the girl's shoes and pictured that kind of stuff happening to me. So if you want to read the best book ever...than read "Boys Lie!!"

Rating: Summary: Boys Lie Review: Nicolette L. December 6, 2004
Boys Lie, John Neufeld, 0-7894-2624-2
Gina just moved to California with her mother as she entered her new school. She was targeted easy by three boys because of her physical development and an incident in her past. Gina tried always to get the past out of her head. She would get flashbacks of the horrible incident. Gina was molested at a New York City public pool. Gina and her mother moved from New York City, to California. Gina is an easy target at her new school in three boys eyes, Ben, Eddie and Felix. They have been dreaming of "making it" with the experienced girl as they thought. Her new classmates soon caught on of what had happened in the past and rumors were spreading fast. Gina's new good friend Jenni tries to stop the horrible rumors before they go way too far but Eddie is tryig to keep the rumors in everybodys head. The genre of Boys Lie is fiction. Its a book that makes you think.
Boys Lie was a really good and educational book. It really got you thinking, what if that was you, what would you do. It was such a page turner knowing what had happened and how she went through it. Sometimes the book would get repetitious because it would state something twice that you already read. I recommend this book to both boys and girls! More for girls because you get into the book. You kind of feel how she was. I think "raped" is something everybody should know about as an awareness. Boys should read Boys Lie to see what the consequences are if they would ever think of something like that. Also they can see how a girl feels. I think this book is good for teens. They will understand the concept alot better than young kids. This book is suited for any type of person. I didn't connect to a specific character. I tried to feel how Gina was feeling. Reading a fiction book made it more real. It got you thinking if things like that happen now. I was very shocked knowing that boys thirteen could do something like that. The story was not boring. It kept you thinking mostly all the time. You would have many questions popping in your head after you were done with the chapter and you would want to read more!
