Summary: GOOD BOOK, REUSED PLOT....
Review: "Playing for Keeps" starts out as a good book, with a good idea. Jessica Wakefield is in love with A.J. Morgan, but feels that he won't like the real Jessica. So she becomes, or attempts, to become a new person in order to get A.J. At first A.J. falls for Jessica's agreeableness, and love of nature, and so forth. But he begins to get bored with Jessica and begins to ask Jessica's friends about the real Jessica.
That's when Pamela Janson comes in. Pamela almost drowns at sea, is rescued by A.J., and then determines to steal A.J. away from Jessica. A.J. finds Pamela more interesting than Jessica, that is until Jessica and Pamela enter the same contest. Jessica is determined to win the designer wardrobe, but Pamela is determined to humiliate Jessica. With the help of her friends, Jessica is able to get even with Pamela. But will A.J. ever see the real Jessica?
While this book is good, the plot happens again throughout the Sweet Valley High series, to the point where the idea seems overused.
