Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great supplement to any study of biology
Review: This book provides a fascinating introduction to the operations of cells. It is intellectually honest. John Young points out where the gaps between what is known and unknown pertaining to cellular function are. Many if not most biology texts avoid such discussions. It is also an example of great science writing. The book inspires and informs at the same time. I was hooked when I read the sections regarding protein transport. If you're studying biology at the high school or college level and really want to understand what's going on, buy this book. Avoid this book if you're looking for a way to get a better grade on a standardized test or a mid-term.
