Review: This is an invaluable resource for teachers and general readers alike who are interested in rooting out erudite, well-written historical novels. It is a shame that so many of the books are out of print, but most well-stocked libraries should not have any trouble finding them. It is also good to see comprehensive sections on Rosemary Sutcliff, Ronald Welch and Geoffery Trease, among others, surely some of the heaviest hitters of historical fiction. A great and useful guide
