Summary: The Iron Road Home
Review: A fascinating read for anyone interested in the hobo days of steam. It's a wholesome novel that you'd not be ashamed to give your grandmother. You'll find adventure as the young heroine and her new found hobo friend, make their way across the HI-Line (The Great Northern Railroad) amid piles of perils heading for a date with destiny into the state of Washington.

It's all there; the Dakota nothingness, the Havre Hobo Jungle, Whitefish and Glacier, Spokaloo' (Spokane) and Wenatchee and finally the sweeping beauty of the Okanogan River Valley. You feel the electric anticipation of a youngster returning home to uncertainty but home nonetheless. The book is a gripping tale for anyone who loves the sound of a train whistle blowing.

Summary: What an incredible adventure story!
Review: I fell in love with this story from the very beginning. I leaped from moving trains with Frankie and Blackie, shared their pork 'n' beans topped with (gag) Spam, and fled from the bad guys. What more could you ask for? "The Iron Road Home" touched my heart and made me cry. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great read on a rainy day.

Summary: The Iron Road Home
Review: Just finished reading "The Iron Road Home". It's a darling book. I'm sure you must be oh, so pleased that at last this story which occupied your mind and energies for so long has at last been consummated. I rejoice with you! I celebrate your victory! Considering my harsh treatment and savage critique I wouldn't have blamed you if you never sent me a copy. But maybe my bluntness strengthened and tightened up the technical aspects of the story. I hope so.

Your story is sweet and wonder-eyed. It took me back to those clear-cut times of riding the rails. I went along with Frankie and Blackie and shared their experiences, enjoy the trek hugely. I felt like I knew them both well and that they were old friends. I recommend it to anyone interested in the lore of a by-gone era.
