Review: As an adult I had forgotten how much fun Halloween Night used to be. Not any more. Halloween has been heightened in my mind forever now. I can only wait and hope for more from this writer. "Muckraker" is filled with funny subplots that tie in mightily with the main story and help propel it to a lasting memory for me. There is an incredibly gripping scene in which Ashley (main character) gets "caught with his pants down" (very nearly) in Tara the Curb Owl's bathroom and ends up having to make his way home on a late October night in only his boxer shorts. I felt like I was there all the way with him--great description and feeling. Another wild part occurs on Mischief Night when Ashley gets chased by the burnouts into a stranger's garage where the owner unknowingly shuts him inside. Now what to do? Ashley's insight and attitude throughout are incredibly admirable. This all pales in comparison, however, to the plight Ashley and his family go through during the crazy Halloween week as a result of his courage to go through with exposing the drug ring. Bravo for him. Would I have done it? Probably not, but after reading this great story I feel in a way that I already have. Great read and more importantly, a great lesson!

Summary: Worth More Than One Read
Review: Callahan knows for sure how to begin and end a novel, and what happens in-between definitely keeps the reader's interest. This book should appeal to anyone even though it comes from the point of view of a 16-year-old. This story filled me with memories of Halloweens past and it brought back my youth in many ways: the innocence of getting a first kiss from a first girlfriend, the idealistic view of the world, typical teenage worries that transcend time and really bind generations together, and the respect and adulation we should have for our parents. With all the current high school shootings and everyday mayhem of the sort, this novel serves as a tool for adults in understanding youth, and, likewise, for youth in understanding ethics and principal, as evidenced by Ashley Monroe, who makes it all seem possible.

Review: This story is excellent. I just couldn't put it down after I started. I really recommend you to buy this book because it really is worth it. Trust me on my opinion. Muckraker displays realistic events of a highschooler dealing with peers. I give it 5 stars since it really deserves it. Anybody that read this book would say it's good and I think you should be able to enjoy such a great story.

Review: Undeniably the best most exciting book I've ever read!!! I also live in Westfield and loved reading a story that brought zeal to my hometown! There's a FEELING about this book--can't fully describe it, but it leaves you with this SENSE! The story STAYS with you, things remind you of it long after you've read it. The night looks different to me now. I want to be out in it more! Definitely recommend a reading every Halloween season. Watch out for teens running around frantic!
