Summary: Children Loved!!
Review: As most famlies we read books before bed as many nights as possible. When we started reading Jud's Journey the kids ages 8 & 13 were begging every night just to read a couple more pages. As we got further into the story the kids would be asleep and I would sneak into my own room and read ahead as I could not stop wondering what was next. It did not take as long and we were finished! We all loved it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great for Kids and their Parents
Review: I really enjoyed this book because I have always been interested in pioneer history. Jud's Journey lets the reader not only learn about the great treck of the pioneers but also gives the reader the opportunity to learn it from the point of view of the children. This is a good wholesome book for children and parents alike.

Summary: Engaging History
Review: My children (ages 8, 11, 13, 16) and I loved this story. It is a believable and well-written American pioneer story that brings the concept of westward expansion to life. Told from the perspective of a young teenage boy, this book emphasizes the hardships and adventures experienced by children, not just adults, who crossed the plains in wagon trains. I teach 7th grade and plan to use some passages in my Social Studies class. I would recommend it for strong readers as young as second grade but I think it would be engaging for many students through middle school. It also would make a great family or classroom read-aloud.
