Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: Dont miss this story. It is a wonderful way to relax. To be able to sit down and read a book with no worrys on your mind. This book makes you forget about everything else that is happening and just relax. Even though I had to read this book for school i enjoyed it the whole time. How they had thier own mysteries to solve after doing homework and play the egyp game of course. Well what i am trying to say is that you should read this book because it is great reading for all ages young and small. So give the Egypt game a try it wont hurt to pick it up. But im telling you know it is going to be hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Fun to re-read Review: I loved this book as a child, and when I re-read it last week I enjoyed it just as much as I did then. I am really sorry to see that many of the kids who reviewed the book here did not like it. Perhaps it is a bit dated; maybe kids don't play complex pretending games as often anymore and thus can't relate to this plot. But if you know a young person who does enjoy imaginary games, this book would be a great choice for them.
I didn't find the book boring at all. In fact, I read it really quickly, excited to know what would happen. Will April be able to adjust to her new life? Will the murderer be caught? Will the kids get to keep playing the Egypt Game, and how will it grow and change when new participants join in? And, most suspenseful of all, is there really anything supernatural going on?
In addition to enjoying the plot, I liked that the main characters were from a variety of cultural and racial backgrounds; I don't see that too much in currently popular kids' books. They also have very different personalities, and they all react in their own ways to the book's events. Something else I liked was the fact that the characters enjoy reading for pleasure; they share books with each other and so on.
The book really doesn't give a lot of concrete info about ancient Egypt, but I think it could definitely kindle some interest in the topic -- I think many kids would be amazed at and curious about the elaborate ceremony for Pete-ho-tep, for instance. But really, the story is more about friendship and growing up.
Rating: Summary: The Egypt Game Review: I'm writing a review about a particular book. This book is called The Egypt Game. It is writen by Zilpha Keatley Snyder. The Egypt Game consists of 23 chapters. It also includes 215 pages. In the beginning of the story there was a girl named April Hall who moved in with her grandma called Caroline. One day April was told to go downstairs to the Ross's family to eat lunch. After lunch they went into Melanie's room, and played with paper dolls after opening a book, and all of the dolls fall out. April had a very interesting imagination. So a walk to the library could be an excavation of an ancient world. After a few days they realized that they both loved anything to do with Egypt, and that's when they stumbled upon a piece of land which belonged to the professor. The professor was a person who owned a store in which he lived in. This store was called the A-Z. Know one really knew what the A-Z stood for, but some people believe it meant merchandise from A to Z. Marshall, Melanie's brother, Melanie, and April went into the yard which is now known as Egypt. Melanie and April read every thing there was to read about Egypt in the library. These three members became four after the moving in of Elizabeth. After few days of walking her to school she said she would meet them by the door, and when Melanie and April met her by the door they saw that she looked exactly like Nefertiti. They let her join the Egypt Game. Weeks before Halloween they all made Egypt costumes for Egypt, and said that it was their Halloween costume. They herd there was a murderer in town, and there was no way they could go to Egypt for a while. When Halloween came a few parents volunteered to go with the children for trick or treating. Melanie, Marshall, April, and Elizabeth decided to break from the big group and go to Egypt for a while, so they dropped to the back to get away. Many of the people who gave the candy wanted to get their picture. This made them stay way behind until they couldn't see the group any more. Then they went to Egypt. After a while in Egypt Ken and Toby climbed over the fence into Egypt and ended up joining the Egypt Game. One day April lost her math book in Egypt, and went back for it at night when she was babysitting Marshall. When they were leaving, April got grabbed by the murderer and the professor yelled for HELP!!! I would give this book a rating of 3 out of 5, but I would recommend this book to you if you are interested in Egypt.
Rating: Summary: A fun read Review: The Egypt Game is one of my favorite children's books with an Egyptian theme. My absolute favorite would have to be The Cat in the Mirror by Mary Stolz which I highly recommend. It seems that so much of the best Egyptian themed fiction (especially fantasy) is written for children. Another recommendation that comes to mind is Time Cat by Lloyd Alexander
Rating: Summary: probably the best reveiw ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Egypt game is really excellent. My classmates think it was bad, but I think it was great! the book could use a picture of the alliigator stone; the pictures were good nonetheless. I think the book should end right there. Then in the sequel, they are all grown up and they're kids are playing the gypsy game. I would give this book a 10/10. this is because it had a good plot, and I love good plots.I don't think a book about Egypt could be anymore exciting than this!
Rating: Summary: Iman's Review's Review: This book isn't a book I would perfer to read again, because at the begining it is really boring and finally at the end of the book it gets good. It's about a girl named April who moves to California and meets Melanie and Marshall. They go to an old lot and make a place they call Egypt. They meet two mew members, Ken and Toby, and let them join. They get to keep the yard afther a accident and they continue the game of Egypt would have changed the begining so it would be more excited.
