Rating: Summary: The most unique book I've ever read Review: Aside from its unique 2-in-1 format, what makes this book stand out is the wide variety of behind-the-scenes accounts relating to Coach Knight. Not only did the author obtain stories from sports persona like Dick Vitale and Charles Barkley, but also from unknown people who found themselves at the center of headline events (such as the Boise State student who hosted Indiana at the 1995 NCAA Regionals where Coach Knight had a famous outburst at a press conference). The real charm of the book is that each person's story is presented as a first-person monologue, as if they'd written up their story and handed it to the author. I don't know how much editing was done; some of the accounts read like rants and some like well-organized stories. Knight fans and haters alike will find material which challenges and supports their opinions. Anyone who has paid little attention to Coach Knight will get a thorough and enjoyable education!

Rating: Summary: Good Stuff, But None of it is Original Review: I liken this book to the movie "THe Naked Gun- From the Files of Police Squad". While all of the gags, and jokes in the movie were funny, they were all (80 to 90%) taken from the short lived TV series Police Squad. Same here with this book. All of the stuff is very informative and interesting, but it's really just a compilation of Knight stories from other books and articles. THere are a couple of new pieces (I have the Good Knight/Knightmares updated version)but not really enough for me to give it more than three stars. But in fairness, if I had never read the pieces from their original sources, I would have enjoyed it more and rated it higher. If you have the originals, bypass this book. I wasn't smart enough thoroughly peruse through it before I purchased it. Yes, I am kicking myself right now. Maybe the three stars is for me and not the book. But where would you ever see Bob Knight compared to THe Naked Gun?

Rating: Summary: Much Better Books On Knight Out There Review: I've read A Season On The Brink, Knight: My Story (his most recent book), and this book. The first two were both much better books. Aside from the grammatical errors (not a big deal, but show the amateurly-written feeling of this book), many stories are almost humorously irrelevant to Bob Knight and most others offer only one instance or encounter with Knight that don't give an accurate portrayal of the complete Bob Knight (for instance, one writer may talk of meeting Knight one time in a restaurant and him being very courteous and another might have a similar story were Knight wasn't nice; neither offering validity on what to think of Bob Knight). I read Knight: My Story before A Season On The Brink. I would suggest doing the opposite. Knight: My Story (written by Knight) is very one-sided and persuasive if you don't know much about him before you read it. I came into the book not knowing much about him and very open-minded as to whether he was a hero or villain. After reading A Season On The Brink as well as other material I believe it gives more accurate depiction of Knight than his autobiography. But I would recommend both.
