Summary: Major Hit in the Minor Leagues
Review: Buy this book now! I can think of no better way to get into the minor leagues without holding a bat. The players, the management, the fans, the business strategy, the juice of the game -- they are all there. You experience this book as much as you read it. It is just great. Author Roth is obviously a real fan.

Summary: Major Hit in the Minor Leagues
Review: Roth's book does a couple things at once, and he does them well.

First, he writes like a fan. At every turn, it is clear how much this man loves baseball. He knows the ins and outs of scoring and keeping statistical records. He describes the strengths of players and the style of the team, as only a man-in-love with being a boy-in-love-with-baseball can.

Secondly, he has learned about the business end of baseball. (As opposed to the business end of a bat). He describes with authority, the kinds of marketing and organizational planning decisions that escape most fans. He has his eye not only on the players' hitting and ball-handling, but also on their career paths, their dreams for the long-future and plans for next season.

"Our Lugnuts: Year One!" is easy to read, excites us with what we'd expect and intrigues us with what we didn't know. "Atta Boy!"

Summary: Minor Leagues Yield Major Talent
Review: Those who enjoy the passion that enters a community when minor league baseball first makes its entrance will enjoy Bob Roth's book. What comes across is a hopefilled book-the hope that baseball brings to a community and the hopes of the minor league players who carry the torch of someday playing in the major leagues. The author proves to be a bit of a prophet as many of the players who made their debut with the initial Lansing Lugnuts now make their homes in the major league and the continuing success of the Lugnuts franchise is a major contributor to the revitalization of the Lansing community. If you love your baseball...and would enjoy a look at some of the ballplayers who rarely receive much ink, you'll enjoy reading this book!

Summary: Great book on one of baseball's Minor League teams
Review: Written by a true lover of baseball Bob Roth writes of the thrills of the "Lansing Lugnuts First Year", a class "A" farm team of the Kansas City Royals. This is a well researched book with individual interviews with players and details concerning coachs, the fans, the stats, the playoffs and many of the thrills of the first year. Since that time some of these players have made the big time and are in the Majors. -- "GO NUTS" -- Don McCorvie - baseball fan
