Rating: Summary: Is my dog a Roughshooter's dog? Review: I have recently aquired a pointer, and read this book with interest. I personally do not shoot, but I compete with my current dogs in agility competitions. I have been having problems with my pointer in that she shows the instinct to sniff and follow a scent, and I wanted more of an understnding of the breed and how to devlop this instinct if I so chose to. I found the book informative and interesting, and it has certainly given me a few ideas to incorporate into my own training, although I will never have a fully trained gundog. However, I found it relatively hard work to pick the information out that I needed, probably due to the age of the book. One of the biggest relevations, is how much the agility and obedience worlds have evolved from gundog training. Anyone with a dog working in these fields will see similarities wiht the work they already do. I would certainly reccomend this book to anyone thinking of owning a pointer-retreiver dog. All dogs need stimulation, and it provides some good ideas. It is also a good read for anyone who owns a dog, particularly those interested in agility and obediance, or those who own a gundog breed.
