Rating: Summary: A Hole in One! Review: A compelling journey through the action-packed history of the Ryder Cup - this book features all of golf's best players. The beginning chapter on the Battle at Brookline is fun to read, and the book also shows just how the Ryder Cup has become an international sports and financial mega-event. It's a good way to prepare for the Match at the Belfry this season A must-read for all you lovers of golf!
Rating: Summary: A Good Primer Review: After a good opening salvo in the first chapter, this book slows down a bit but is none the less informative and easy to get through. good quotes, though mostly the same ones an avid golfer would have read about in Golf, Golf Digest, or Golf World. Touches on the financial implications of the Cup, sure to be of more conflict in the future as tour purses get bigger and bigger. All in all, a good primer.

Rating: Summary: "The Ryder Cup: Golf's Greatest Event" Review: Enjoying playing as well as watching golf is one thing, but seeing it played with the intensity of a national team sport is another. And that's the Ryder Cup. As I look forward to watching the Cup in September again I thought I would pique my interest by doing some reading on the event. This book by Bubka and Clavin was fun (the opening chapter on the Battle at Brookline was great), informative ( all the games best players are discussed, quoted, etc.), and thorough (even the financial implications the event has generated). It's great preparation for the upcoming September Cup at Belfry!
Rating: Summary: The Cup Runneth Over Review: For the millions of us who are left to hacking our way around the course, "The Ryder Cup" by Clavin & Bubka, for a brief time, puts on the fairway with the great ones. Beautifully written, "The Ryder Cup," once again, proves that the critic never counts; that the credit belongs to those that are actually in the arena. A thoroughly enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: baffled by negative reviews Review: I cannot believe that trees died for this...seldom has something promised so much and delivered so little! Bombast is no substitute for drama, but apparently no one informed the authors of that . Frighteningly amateurish writing, and if in writing this "review", I prevent someone from being duped into buying this book like I was, then I can heave a sigh of relief. In all seriousness, the volume by Colin Jarman is certainly the more substantial work , and manages to capture the excitement and colour of the Ryder Cup with greater success and a lot less hype. All in all, this book is a glib and meaningless exercise.
Rating: Summary: Girls Like It Too! Review: I too enjoyed this book. What golfer doesn't eat up the Ryder Cup? This is well done about the background which we TV viewers have little of its color and passion that the authors relate. This is good stuff!
Rating: Summary: Ryder Cup primer for Belfry '01' Review: The best way for casual golf enthusiasts to prepare for the excitement of Ryder Cup play at Belfry in September is to read this book. It provides a thorough, entertaining and action-packed history of legendary players under intense pressure. The fun of the game, the team play and great joy of winning are highlighted even in the very first chapter - the Battle of Brookline. From there the rules are explained in a lively manner and with enough information to enhance appreciation about the Ryder competition for even novice golfers. Since Belfry in September is destined to be the most exciting Ryder Cup ever, this primer on the premier competition is essential reading for the many millions of international golf fans sure to tune in.
Rating: Summary: The best golf book I ever read. No, the best book ever! Review: This book told so much about The Ryder Cup. I havn't read a book like this in a long time. Bubka and Clavin are great; I have to compliment what their team work did for this book. I disagree with the bad reviews, but I know that they're just not true.
Rating: Summary: the definitive work Review: This is a great book about golf's best event. It reads with humor, drama and a wonderful command of the facts and history of this most unique and compelling competition. Bubka and Clavin have captured the history and spirit of the Ryder Cup by talking to those who were there, both past and present, and packing the volume with the sort of records and facts that will compel readers to keep this book handy for years to come, both to re-read before the next match, and to peruse in spare moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
