Summary: Horrible! Worthless!
Review: 90 per cent of the book is used to list 160 offensive plays, including 70 passing plays. 70 passing plays for youth football?! Most successful youth football teams use about 10 running plays and 2 passing plays. Since 90 per cent of the book is devoted to worthless play diagrams, there is very little room for anything else. "The most important part of any running play is the blocking". That is the book's ENTIRE treatment of the subject of blocking. How to make a tackle is not mentioned at all. Other important subjects like communicating as a coach, safety, conditioning, drills and skills for individual positions are also not mentioned. I've read numerous books on coaching youth football - this is far and away the worst.

Summary: local consumer
Review: The book does lack some subject material, but the play selection is excellent!!! The book appears to be more of the "hands on" or "how to" rather than psychology of youth football.

If you are looking for setting up an offense an teaching plays, then the book is for you. If you are looking for how to talk to players, run drills, etc... it is not.

Summary: Good Fundamentals....
Review: This book is great for parents of children just starting to play youth football. It is also great for new coaches, even a mom can coach using this book! It covers the basics of youth football from the game to the players positions and shows in great detail how football plays are done. I would highly recommend this book for the beginning football player, parent, or coach.
