Rating: Summary: Ignore moron from Pittsburgh - James is King!!! Review: Bill James and STATS are the 5 star baseball kings. Elias never cared to release anything to the public until James came along with his intelligent research and then Elias tried unsuccessfully to duplicate Bill's research without even a wiff of insight. This is the only manual you'll ever need.
Rating: Summary: These Stats are *MORE ACCURATE* than MLB or Elias. Review: Don't listen to that nitwit who thinks these guys don't pay attention. They are routinely catching mistakes that MLB and it's official scorers miss. (remember that Sammy Sosa defensive replace ment game a few years ago? no one noticed it except these guys...) They watch the videotape and are careful. I've bought their books forever and couldn't stand to see that guy slam them. Play ball!
Rating: Summary: These guys know their stuff Review: They beat everyone to market, and they ALWAYS get it right. Not bad for a bunch of fans banding together, huh?

Rating: Summary: Ignore moron from Pittsburgh - James is King!!! Review: This book, produced by STATS Inc., makes available the season statistics for the incredible 1998 baseball campaign to eager fans everywhere. It also includes the first projections for the 1999 season performances by every major leaguer. This handbook includes all the statistics you know and care about already, and new ones you SHOULD care about. Actually seeing McGwire's 70 HR, in the context of his entire career, is a thrill. The fact that STATS began shipping this in late October, and that most guidebooks won't be out until the spring (and are far less comprehensive) , is amazing. You don't have to wait for the Street & Smith Guide or other old annuals -- the real deal is right here, and NOW.
