Rating: Summary: Register Headed Downhill Review: I'm not familiar with the Pro Football Handbook that other reviewers mention, but have been buying The Sporting News Pro Football Register annually for years. This is the first year that I would strongly dispute the "every player, every stat" subtitle. The Register has always left out some players, specifically veterans who were inactive the previous year and undrafted rookies. I won't quibble with this. However, they place stats for "skill" players in tabular form with each player's entry. Sometimes there isn't room for every stat, largely because of page width limitations. In previous editions, TSN has summarized these statistics, e.g., Brian Mitchell's passing statistics, Corey Harris' rushing and receiving stats, and Will Henderson's kickoff returns, in a short paragraph in the body of the entry. These statistics are missing, and this missing piece detracts greatly from the value of the publication. In the past I didn't review the Register, but probably would've given it five stars. It was always exactly what I wanted. Now, though still useful, it is a disappointing product.

Rating: Summary: Just pathetic Review: I've been relgiously buying the Stats Inc Pro Football Handbook for years. This is a sorry excuse for a replacement...virtually none of the interesting stats are present. In fact, you can easily get every stat in this book and much more on free web pages of major sports sites.
Rating: Summary: What a disappointment Review: The old Stats Pro Football Handbooks used to be great when preparing for the upcoming fantasy football season. But the 2002 and 2003 editions are just lousy. Want to check on how bead weather or playing on a grass field affect Marshall Faulk's rushing stats? Don't look here. Want to check on O-line perofrmances vs. divisional opponents? Don't look here. Everything that used to be great about this book is now gone. All it lists are the usual statistics you can find in any magazine or website. What Stats has done to this formerly fine product is a crime.
Rating: Summary: Where did all the Stats Inc stuff go?? Review: This is the standard Sporting News Pro Football Register that has been around for years. No new features since they added the college stats of early draft picks a few years ago. Most disappointing is that they did NOT include many of the numbers that Stats, Inc. has produced and published in their Pro Football Handbooks and the like from 1994 - 2001. Gone are sacks allowed for Offensive Linemen, Numerous defensive stats including Tackles, Stuffs, Passes Defensed, and situational breakdowns. Hopefully they will bring these numbers back for future issues, until then, I see no need to purchase this book as it provides nothing that you cannot easily access on the internet.
