Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very informative and readable volume!
Review: A very timely volume which fills in some significant gaps in the published record of the United States national soccer teams in World Cup competition. It includes every game the US has played in world cup competition, including both qualifying tournaments and the World Cup finals. Each game is covered with a prose account, and a detailed box score with lineups of both the US and opponents. Nice overview on each tournament, too. Also included are full rosters for all seven men's and three women's teams that have qualified for the final tournament, with a bio for each player. Finally, there's a chapter covering the US performance in other official tournaments such as the Olympics, CONCACAF Championship and FIFA's Confederation cup.

In short, a welcome addition to the small, but growing bookshelf of books detailing American soccer history. Timely too, given the success of the men's team in 2002, and the expected success of the women's team in the upcoming 2003 Women's World Cup.
