Rating: Summary: This is one of the best books I've read on personal safety Review: Don't let the title fool you. THIS BOOK IS FOR MEN also. In this book you will learn MANY things. But one of my favorite is on setting boundaries to protect your self. Michael & Christine do an excellent job of explaing how to do this. This is all covered in the section The Seven Keys to Personal Safety. Then there is the section on applying the keys. I will not go into anymore detail except to say ,I dont care who you are, YOU NEED THIS BOOK. You WILL learn from it.Paul Rowsey Personal Safety & Crime Prevention Consultant Charlotte, NC

Rating: Summary: One of the best women's self-defense books available. Review: I've read over a dozen books about self-defense for women in the past year, and if I were going to recommend one book women should buy, this would be it. The book focuses on the psychological aspects of self-defense for women, which is downplayed or missing in most others, and in my opinion, being mentally prepared to defend yourself is more important than learning physical techniques (which, by the way, are easier to learn than most self-defense "experts" care to let on). The concepts in Real World Safety are useful not just for self-defense situations, but for your entire life. GREAT book!

Rating: Summary: mental, emotional and physical safety for everyone Review: There are many, many books (and would-be self defense classes!)out there that claim to teach you how to fight off attackers without ever stressing the importance of pre-attack factors. This book is a manual on how to protect oneself on EVERY level. It begins by showing how to change a feminine belief system that has been so deeply ingrained in most women that we do not even realize how it controls our relationships, our ability to respond, our self esteem and ultimately, our safety. In order to be safe, we must first realize that we are strong and we can mount effective verbal and physical defenses against any assault. The information in this book is essentially what one would learn in a full impact self defense course. Although it does not take the place of full experiential (or what the authors call scenario-based self defense) training, it is a valuable introduction to it and a useful aid in remembering what one has learned if one has already completed such training. After outlining the steps to take in order to strengthen oneself mentally and emotionally, the concept of boundary setting is discussed and after that, there are very clear and graphic instructions and photographs for defending against a physical attack. Reading and doing the exercises in this book should result in a major transformation. You will significantly reduce your chances of ever becoming a predator's target, whether the predator is just a lewd, rude co-worker or a deranged criminal on the street (or God forbid, hiding in your home!). Every woman (and indeed, every decent person out there) deserves access to this information. A HUGE THANK YOU to the authors for taking the time to write this highly effective and much needed book!
