Rating: Summary: Straight Down the Middle Review: This easy-reading golf guidebook offers advice that is "straight down the middle" and has long-lasting impact. Quite simply, this book is about "mind over mechanics". Similar to most beginning golfers, I was concentrating too hard on my stance, my grip, my backswing, the sweetspot, and my constant slice, to ever begin to enjoy the game. There was just too much to remember to ever get it right. I would concentrate on what was going wrong, which would only exaggerate the problem on the next swing! After reading this book, I stopped focusing on the 47 essentials of a perfect golf swing and started to get in the right mindset to actually enjoy the game. This book gave me the attitude adjustment I needed to approach the game with inner confidence and the self-management skills that are the building blocks for enjoyment of this sport. My game has improved exponentially by understanding and applying Levasseur's 10 basic principles of golf, rather than being concerned about the detailed mechanics of the swing. I have been playing now for over three years, and have yet to be on the course without the voice of Levasseur's golf secrets helping me through a tough situation. Golf is still the most humbling experience, and I remain a high handicapper. But I am now able to hit the ball straight down the middle, and I know I will soon be looking for Levasseur's secrets for middle handicappers.
