Rating: Summary: A wonderful read for all soccer fans Review: This book had me hooked from start to finish. The author has an excellent writing style which sweeps the reader along at great pace through a marvellous selection of footballing tales. From the despair of a Ukrainian team in world war two being executed for refusing to allow the Nazia to beat them. Right through to the dawn of a new Millenium and Manchester United winning the European cup in breathtaking style against Bayern Munich, John Ludden's first book left me enthralled. I thoroughly recommend Fields of fire to anyone remotely interested in the history of soccer. My one complaint, if it could be called so would be the choice of certain games. But that is merely minor. This is an excellent book and i hope to hear more from Mr Ludden.
