Rating: Summary: You've all heard them, now find out what they mean Review: Golf instruction is filled with little snippets of info all meant to deliver some ray of wisdom to a game that has more suble complexities than most will ever comprehend. The problem? Many of these nuggets of advice turn out to be fool's gold, to borrow from the book. Not all of them are so completely off as to be false, but they need some qualifying, especially in regards to who the advice was meant for and exactly what it was intended to imply. In steps this volume, written by a renoun instructor who has probably heard more just-off-the-mark instruction than any of us. He writes in a clear fashion, without overdoing a point, and offers new ways to look at the problems such advice is meant to correct. Included are numerous photos and improvement drills to help add the final tweek to one's game that our own pro instructors have been struggling with us to get right. Even if you don't go to a regular instructor, this book is still quite usable as a secondary reference to book and video instruction. It can be difficult to find exactly the information you want, since not all the poor advice that the book is divided into indicates what the content of a chapter is. In terms of swing mechanics, short game and putting advice, this book has most of the bases covered, and even adds a little more to help each individual determin what kind of swing is right for them. Even if you don't buy every golf book on the market, or haven't even touched an instruction book period, this is one reference I would recommend anyone to have on their shelf.
Rating: Summary: Examining Common Misconcepts Review: I have hundreds of books on golf. This is one of the most helpful instructional volumes I have read. Understandable evaluations of commonly given misconcepts.
