Summary: I paid $6.95 and it was still too much
Review: Hopefully my title says it all . . . this was not a good book. I've always been able to find something I like about a running book, but not this one. You almost have to wonder why Mr. Martin runs at all, since he seems to get more joy out of putting down other runners than he does out of running himself. Sure, if they have the exact same attitude about running that he does, they're okay, but if you are a competitive runner or have ever had an unpleasant day while running, than he will have something unkind to say about you. Apparently, the only "good" runners are back-of-the-pack folks who run with a big smile on their face all day long. As for the humor, you'll find more watching CSPAN at 3 A.M. than in this book. Save your money-buy some Powerbars.

Summary: This Is A Book Of Humor, NOT Running!
Review: I must confess that I was referred by a friend to this book, and make no claims to being a runner. All that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed 'There's Nothing Funny About Running' as a humorous look at PEOPLE, and not the act of running itself. I think anyone who appreciates an eclectic mix of well-drawn characters would like this book...if you happen to be a runner, consider it a bonus.

The previous reviewer in my opinion obviously missed the entire point of the book, (and probably took the title of it literally) so BE WARNED....if you take yourself too seriously, you probably won't enjoy it either!

Summary: The funniest book about running--bar NONE!
Review: There's Nothing Funny About Running does more to capture the essence and spirit of running than any other book I've read. It is a hilarious, yet thoughtful treatment of one runner's journey through his running life, and makes some insightful observations along the way. The stories are short and snappy, and almost all elicited at least a smile, if not a down-right belly laugh. I highly recommend this book to any runner who likes to read, and especially those runners who like to laugh. Move over Don Kardong, Tim Martin is the funniest runner writing today!
