Rating: Summary: Wonderful photos of the Dallas Cowboys Review:
Great Dallas Cowboys photos in this book. This is a coffee-table book (12 inches tall, 9 inches wide, and 239 pages) loaded with color and black and white photos throughout. In my opinion it is the best book of Dallas Cowboy pictures.
The book was written by Carlton Stowers, who was a sports writer for the Dallas Morning News. The text includes a brief history of the team, interviews with Tex Schramm, Gil Brandt, and Tom Landry, and lots of interesting anecdotes and trivia including lists of book written on the Dallas Cowboys and the best commercials done by Cowboys. The text is interesting but the best part about the book are the pictures. More space is devoted to pictures than text.
Even though the book's title is "The First Twenty-Five Years", the book really only covers the team's first 24 seasons- 1960 through 1983- as the book was published in 1984.
A more recent book, "Dallas Cowboys: The Authorized Pictorial History" by Jeff Guinn is also a top-notch photo book on the Cowboys and spans through the 1995 season. I prefer "The First Twenty Five Years", because of its more extensive treatment of the early years, but both books are winners that I would highly recommend to Dallas Cowboys fans.
