Summary: All You Would Need to Know
Review: How many of us out there collect histories of the Washington Senators/Nationals. An exhaustive text, telling the long troubled history of our beloved teams to a world that is now grown up never even knowing baseball in DC. A 35 year old today would have been 2 when the Senators disappeared. While my comrade in arms, above, bemoans lack of photos, I would have liked more stats, such as in an Appendix, but a notable labor of love and I commend the author with all my heart (which as "Damn Yankees" taught us, the Senators being the only real team to be subject of a Broadway Musical, we "gotta have").

Summary: CAPITAL BASEBALL
Review: This is an excellent book that covers both sets of Senators (the 1901-1960 originals who became the Twins and the 1961-1971 expansion 'Nats who became the Rangers). The chapters here are (basically) broken up into decades that help to digest this history in managable chunks. The book is rounded out by brief but informative appendices (stats, etc.) and bibliography. Why do I only give this 4 stars? No pictures!!! How can you have a book on the Senators and not have photos of Walter Johnson, Ted Williams, and Frank Howard. This would have been the perfect place to also include shots of both Griffith (for us youngsters) and RFK Stadiums. Baseball In Washington, D.C. by Frank Ceresi, Mark Rucker, and Carol McMains, while not perfect (check my review), makes a great companion piece to this book by allowing you to put a face to these names from a bygone era. All in all, a must have for any true Senators fan.
