Rating: Summary: Best book for the novice 'horse mother' Review: This is one of the most useful books I have seen in a long time. It answers virtually all the questions that the non-horsey parent might have about riding. It covers choosing a stable and an instructor, when--and if!--to buy a horse for your child, things the parent should know how to do, what to expect of lessons, what horse shows are about, etc. etc. I would recommend that everyone who teaches young pupils keep a supply of 'The Parent's Guide to Horseback Riding' in her stable, and hand them out to the parents of every new pupil. Even if you give them away, they will be worth every penny of the investment in time saved and misunderstandings avoided.
