Summary: Very Inspiring
Review: "Hunting the Comeback Trail" is a compilation of inspirational stories of men who have overcome great odds to pursue a hobby they all love--hunting. It tells of how this love motivated them to deal with tragedy in their lives and not give in to self-pity. From a paraplegic to a heart attack victim, Padilla portrays their struggles with accounts of hunting adventures that show forth their strong wills and spirits. The characters of these men show forth in how they come to terms and deal with their handicaps. It is humbling to see the strong desire to achieve a goal that many hunters take for granted-the simple ability to hunt. The author paints us a picture of his own struggle to regain normalcy after an auto accident ends not only his hunting ability but his Army career. Because Mr. Padilla knows the "Comeback Trail" well, he brings a special insight to his book. I found the book inspiring. Any hunting enthusiast will enjoy the accounts of the numerous "hunts" depicted by the author. Most hunters enjoy the retelling of hunts and this book offers several. I recommend it to anyone interested in reading about people who have overcome great odds and those espeically interested in hunting. The author has promising ability and I look forward to reading more from him.

Summary: Very Inspiring
Review: Hunting the Comeback Trail is a series of stories of 7 outdoorsmen with a handicap or physical disability thrust upon them. They all have one thing in common, the love of hunting. This is their story of how they learned to tolerate their physical limitations while finding the way to continue a sport, which consumes the soul. Once a hunter, able bodied or not, sees a bull elk's golden, glistening hide across the valley as the sun spotlights it, he is hooked on the sport. Once he sees his first majestic mule deer bound away, he is hooked. Once he sees the beautiful pronghorn speed away or carefully creeps up to a waterhole as the sun is going down, the sport pulls him in further. The thrill is there without releasing the arrow or pulling the trigger. Padilla relates these types of feelings through his subjects and every hunter or outdoor photographer can understand these feelings. This book is an inspiring book. It tells not only of seven men's struggles, but also how each one has triumphed. They not only continue hunting, but continue to excel as hunters. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the outdoors or interested in people who have a fighting spirt. Hunting the Comeback Trail tells of two of the best qualities of mankind; perseverance and love. The perseverance is obvious. Wheelchair-bound hunters taking caribou, elk, and antelope. Love of the outdoors and for the animals that draw these hunters there is depicted. Padilla's writing shows these qualities in each hunter. Padilla's book also tells the reader of organizations dedicated to providing hunting and fishing to the disabled. The book is worth the time to read.
