Rating: 4 stars
Summary: well researched
Review: I am both a reenactor and a martial artist and a student of fencing with about 25 years experience. I have a library that contains about 350 books on the martial arts and weapons combat. Also, I have spent many visits to the Library of Congress and elsewhere researching weapons combat including many of the books the author cites. In my effort to learn this lost art, I have fought many times with weapons including arenas such as the SCA. Having stated a little bit about my background let me state simply: This is the finest book I have ever found for those interested in learning to use the various weapons of highland origins. The authors conclusions seem to dead on and if you are a student seeking knowledge than there is no better manual. I warn you though, if you would rather believe what the movies and most modern martial arts schools claim than this is not a book for you as the author tells the truth.
