Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Poor martial artist
Review: I don't know about the book, but I have seen Sean Flynn compete in person several years ago. Studying Aikido for about 15 years, I can tell that his basics are still not yet firmly grounded. Just based on observation, I can not say I would recommend this book. I was very surprised to see his name on the cover while looking for some literature written by some of the true masters of the art.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent for both beginner's and older students
Review: While many books have been written about Aikido, and even Tomiki Aikido, few are as understandable or easy to follow as Understanding Shodokan Aikido. The book takes the reader through the fundamental exercises and skills of Shodokan Aikido in a remarkably clear manner. Other books impress with pages and pages of esoteric techniques that are seldom practiced. This short volume covers the basics of Shodokan Aikido as well as the material for the first two belt exams with helpful photographs and straightforward explanations. After over six years of studying Tomiki Aikido in both the US and Japan, I still find this book to be a helpful reference for reviewing the core lessons of Shodokan Aikido.
