Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Wisconsin Basketball
Review: "I saw this book on the Amazon web site, and had to send for it, as I am from the same little town in north-central Wisconsin as the author, John Cantwell. In fact, my father, Larry Fenton, was the 7th grade basketball coach, and there's even a photo of that winning team as 7th graders with him in the book. The book itself is a compilation of what happened in 1956 and 1957 with the high school boys' basketball team and Coach Kenney. Various team members supply their recollections, and the author captures the spirit of town. Dr. Cantwell also writes about the life experiences of the players since that magical time. These "boys" were and are legends in Shawano, WI. I grew up hearing about their excellence and winning games. It was great fun to read, although the market for this book may be somewhat limited, as its subject is so specific to a time and place.
