Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A trusted companion to runners at every level.
Review: I have read this book "cover to cover" and continue to refer to it on a daily basis for information on topics ranging from proper nutrition to "day of race" preparation. From your first day on the road to peak performance in your first Marathon, anyone who uses this book as a reference will find it to be as trusted a companion as I have. This book's only limitation is that "paperbacks eventually wear out!"

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Useful and informative
Review: I purchased this book when I first took up running and have found it a wonderful reference source ever since. The book is well written and extremely motivational, including many comments and excerpts from seasoned and well known competition runners of all distances. Geared more to distance running, this manual is invaluable if you are about to, or are in the process of, training for a longish race. I re-read this book periodically just to gain further motivation and refresh my memory of some of the tips given by the authors. Well worth the money!

Review: I still refer to this book from time to time; haven't looked at the 3rd edition of this book (newly out).

I have no regrets buying this book, but I prefer a book I recently discovered: Bob Glover's The Runner's Handbook.

I got a kick out of reading the late Fred Lebow's story and how the NYC Marathon started, but find the book more suited to people who actually live in NYC and can be part of the NYRRC in that this book provides too many place-specific references.
