Rating: Summary: Thou Shalt Love Thy Baseball as Thyself Review: Pierce and 12 other authors share stories of baseball's "ability to capture what life is really all about." Many of the stories feature at least a few paragraphs of play-by-play, which would probably appeal more to fans than to readers like me who are indifferent to the sport. Not to say I didn't find the stories interesting and sometimes inspiring. I just identified more with the one about a bunch of high school girls who joined a team in the summer and were annoyed to learn that the coach took the whole thing seriously. "I was just trying to get a tan on my face," said one. But the coach's daughter stuck it out, made a great play in a crucial game, and recalls that she glimpsed God in her dad's smile that day. This would make a nice gift for anyone with an interest in baseball.
