Rating: Summary: For duffers and others Review: Initially, I signed up for a series of introductory golf lessons at a local course. The instructor was twenty-five years my junior, and insisted on making comparisons between golf and tennis, a sport about which he knew nothing and I knew a lot. I realized that a book was mandatory. After ordering almost every beginner's golf book in the Seattle Public Library system (and finding most of limited use), I happened upon Golf Fore Beginners, and learned more in an hour than I did in several hours of lessons. Clear instructions about exactly how to grip, swing, follow through, etc. are accompanied by excellent illustrations. This book is a must for any beginning golfer or for someone who has been playing for a while and has run into difficulties. Careful reading and diligent application of the principles clearly explained in Rutherford's Golf Fore Beginners should result in a significant improvement in play.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book is very basic, all inclusive, for the beginner. As a woman who wants to teach golf, this book will serve as an outline for my classes.
Rating: Summary: Excellent comprehensive yet clear compendium of golf basics Review: This is the perfect book for beginners. The instructional chapters are clear and basic. The additional information on clubs, golf course ratings, ball trajectories, etiquette and more provide answers to all sorts of mysteries that await the beginner golfer.
