Rating: Summary: Borrow Some, Discard the Rest Review: I did this program instead of my regular program with some interesting results. My golf was about the same, but my feel in my short game was better, which I attribute to moving in different directions in the program. I might have gotten the same thing from basketball, I don't know. However, after 2 weeks of this, I felt my overall strength and endurance was down from previous. So what I did was borrow some of the movements, added them back to my regular routine of basic weight training and cardio work. Borrow the book from a friend or library, copy the best exercises and don't bother with it after that.
Rating: Summary: Finally a golf conditioning book that makes sense! Review: I found this book very helpful. I understand the golf swing better as a result of reading it, and the exercises make sense! The many photographs make the exercises easy to understand, and I can feel my shoulder turn improving as a result. After working in front of a mirror with the exercises, I am getting into much, much better positions, especially on the takeaway. When I hit balls, I am making better contact, and have gained yards with every club. But the best part of the book for me is the Mental Side section. A practical mental side approach better that any I have found to date. This is a very good resource for any golfer.
Rating: Summary: Very effective Review: I have been doing the exercises in the book for two weeks and I have already seen a big difference in my golf swing. As advertised, I have seen improvement in flexibility, strength, mechanics, and the mental approach to the swing. Rather than thinking during the swing, I am just swinging. Excellent help for my golf game.
Rating: Summary: Better Get the Video Too Review: I love the concept... that the swing was broken down into all of it's phases and the the exercises are designed to reinforce the muscle tone and muscle memory required for a better golf swing. However, the written directions are complex and the visual aids are of poor quality so it is possible to do the exercise wrong with out knowing it. I'm sure the video would be a great supplement to the book.
Rating: Summary: Just too much Review: It's good information, but more than I'll ever need by a factor of 5. There is a very useful technique for scoring your game, so you have a record of exactly what happened on the course, and you know what to work on. But, there is just too much for me, a beginning golfer, and for my brother (I tried to pawn it off on him), who's a mid-level player. I wish I'd returned it.
Rating: Summary: Top notch all around golf resource! Review: Just wanted to drop a note to tell you how much I have enjoyed the book and video that I received a couple weeks ago. I've been using the exercises myself at lunch time in the clinic and throughout the day here and there as well as introduce a few of the exercises to a few of my patients with musculoskeletal injuries who also golf. I am also grateful for other aspects of the book which is proving to be an all around wonderful resource. Your tips on the scoring, course management, the driving range and the mental aspects are excellent. Two weeks ago, I played a local public course and shot an even 100...this past teusday, I shot a 95 but what was much more gratifying was the fact that I experienced the very same things mentioned...more confidence over the ball, solid contact...Gone is my typical hook which is replaced by a pleasant draw! I will keep you posted on my progress...I see myself knocking 15 more strokes off of my game over the next two months! Thanks so much Neil! Sincerely, Ryan Gephart, PT
Rating: Summary: My back has never felt better. Review: Like many golfers, my back has given me problems for years. After 2 sessions with the exercises from this book, I felt like there had never been a problem! On top of that, my game is changing for the better. These exercises are GOLF SPECIFIC: in some cases they seem very similar to the golf swing; in others, they aren't but they work the parts of my body needed in a good swing. I noticed the very next round that I felt different just standing on the first tee: grounded, solid, and healthy. In fact that whole round I kept commenting to my friend that this was what it was like to play pain-free. The bottom line is that my shots are getting better while I'm working out. In other words I've got more time in my day. By the way, this author also has a video-taped workout of these exercises that I use at home. It's a 20 minute routine, each exercise timed out and with a short break between them. It's very helpful to work along with the tape, and especially to see the taped exercises, then read about them in more detail in the book.
Rating: Summary: Total Conditioning For Golfers Review: Neil Chasen's book offers incredibly useful exercises that affect the muscle groups that affect your golf game the most. I recently had surgery and it has helped me come back better than ever! I shot an 80 the first time back and I attribute that to the conditioning his book provides. I strongly recommend that if you are a serious golfer or a novice, this book will help you achieve your maximum results in just a short time. It has helped me tremendously.
Rating: Summary: A few good ideas, poor presentation/layout Review: Not easy to follow, but a few interesting exercises I have added to my routine. Some of the sections are just not adequate compared to other books/plans, for example, the aerobic/endurance section. Looks like it was thrown together over the weekend at Kinko's.
Rating: Summary: Mucho Hype/Minimal Delivery Review: Poorly produced with a few radical concepts about sport-specific conditioning as it relates to golf. I doubt anybody on tour uses this stuff, just too funky.
