Rating: Summary: Excellent for planning my yearly marathon schedule. Review: I run 5 - 10 marathons a year with at least one being international. This book not only helps me plan my international marathons but also covers the best rated U.S. Marathons. It gives all the info necessary such as dates, number of participants in the previous year, the course, the spectators and much, much more. This book is an essential tool for those who make holidays out of the running.
Rating: Summary: A great piece of research work ! Review: This book is exceptionally well researched, well thought out, and perfectly detailed. Each marathon is summarized perfectly in 2-3 pages. I enjoyed reading the entire book for enjoyment, even beyond the reference book that it really is. It is obvious that the authors are very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject matter, as they provide about every detail imaginable in the synopsis of each race. I have the good fortune of living in Europe, and I have used the guide with great effect to plan and run two European marathons. I also plan on using it for North American marathons upon my return stateside. Great, great work.
Rating: Summary: Seriously Out-of-Date Review: We bought this book when it was first published and it was tremendously helpful, but it hasn't been updated since 1998. I had hoped that the authors had released an updated version since I'm sure there are more and more international marathons added by different countries each year, not to mention cities change marathon months all the time (the Maui marathon has now moved from May to September each year), but no such luck. This book is now pretty much useless.
