Summary: Lamar knows Jeet kune do
Review: if there is anything you need or want to know about Bruce Lee's art of jeet Kune Do this is the book for you. It covers everything, the history, theories, principles, techniques, aplications, you name it, if it's about Jeet Kune Do it's in this book. The book itself is very well written, concise, and easy to understand, with lot's of photographs of the techniques. Mr. Davis's knowledge of the subject is absolute. If you only read one book on Jeet Kune Do this should be the one. Whether your a novice or an instructor you will get alot out of this book.

Summary: Excellent expanation of Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do fundamentals
Review: This book gives an extremely well-written explanation of both the how and why of basic Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do. If you are looking for a book which will explain the mechanics and the scientific principles at work behind Bruce Lee's art of self-defense - and an understanding of what to practice to form a good foundational structure in JF/JKD - then this book is for you. If you have studied various JKD concepts but feel that along the way you missed out on the core structure of JKD then this book may give you a whole new way of thinking about the art that you thought you were practicing!
At the 2001 JKD "Nucleus" conference in the Netherlands, I met a number of people who enthusiastically said that this was the first book they had found which really explained the fundamentals in a straightforward, no-nonsense form. I am sure this is a common reaction.
Those who criticize this book for not going into enough detail about advanced topics are missing the point and focus of the book. This is not a 900 page encyclopaedia of JKD, nor is it priced like one. Its mission is to explain the fundamental logic, principles and strategies of JF/JKD structure - basic footwork, stances, parries, weapons, strategies and principles, and to put them in a framework that is both scientific and practical. Understand the logic behind these techniques and you will see all JKD techniques - no matter how advanced - in a new light.
The illustrations are excellent. They demonstrate the principles and, for advanced readers, show some more advanced applications.

Summary: Great JKD Book
Review: This book is an excellent source for beginning and intermediate students of JKD. The basics of the Bai Jong Stance and footwork are very well written. The only thing I felt should have been added is a section specifically on trapping as Sifu Davis' trapping skills are elite. Otherwise this is a great Book
