Summary: New Ligth on an extraordinary Sport
Review: Excellent book which describe very well the 115 years old dangerous sport. Written by an American, it paints well the ambiance of this very traditional British club. Lunatics, playboys , Jet setters, Yale alumni , or simple Italian greengrocer share their passion and fears. It is descriptive and help to understand why, a so call elite is risking its life every day at every corner of this treatuous icy run. More than a description of an extreme sport (top speed 90 miles an hour on a sled) , it is an inside view of a club and a quasi sociological analysis of its members. John F. Kennedy, Billy Fisk the first American who died during World War II, John Beinecke, Gianni Agnelli, Claus Von Bulow , the French tycoon Prade and even Brigitte Bardot were or are members of this fraternity. We understand now why!
