Rating: Summary: This is OLD MATERIAL Review: If you are looking for a book describing the swing that Don Trahan demonstrated recently (5/2004) on Golf Academy Live, then this isn't it. There is still a lot of good information on grip, alignment, chipping, and putting--standard fare. But this IS NOT the limited turn, quiet lower body swing displayed on TGC.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Presentation of Golf Fundamentals Review: This book is what it says it is, Golf, plain and simple. This is a very straightforward and easily understandable presentation of the fundamentals of a solid golf swing. The previous reviewer is completely wrong when he says this book is a waste of time. I think he has drawn this conclusion based on very little information and his review is completely unfair to Mr. Trahan. You see, this book was written and origonally published in the mid eighties. In the early 90's Don Trahan developed his powerful and origonal theory on the golf swing that teaches a back-friendly, 3/4 backswing. He has made several appearances on the Golf Channel Academy and also has a website where you can learn more about his unique understanding of the golf swing. I recommend that anyone interested in improving their swing and easing golf-related back problems check out his site at swingsurgeon.com . I have learned that a golfer can swing more efficiently without losing any clubhead speed while still preventing the potential for back and neck injury that many golfers experience. He also has a video available on his site as well as several other items that can help all golfers. ABOUT ME: I am a 8 handicap golfer who has experienced some of the back problems that come with the traditional, full swing. I saw this negative review on this book and felt it was simply unfair. That reviewer was expecting Mr. Trahan's 20 year old book to contain theories that have only been developed in the last 10 years. If he had taken anything more than the most shallow look into Don Trahan's theories he would not have written such an unfair review.

Rating: Summary: Climb The Tree! Review: This is a great book to start building your swing with, but i feel you really need the video by the same title. I was watching the US Open today and just saw Marco Dawson use Don's swing, ie. climb the tree. It's especially useful for those of us who are over 50 and can't turn as much. Very simple to understand. I got immediate results.
