Rating: Summary: Terrific material Review: By chance, I recently heard Coach Jenkins speak at a football clinic. He did a powerpoint presentation on quarterbacks, wide receivers, as well as one on offense -- very impressive! I ordered his book the next day, and when I received it I was equally impressed. The book touches on everything that has to do with offense; protections, QB drops, receiver and back routes, and lots of running and pass plays. I am looking forward to reading his new books on quarterback mechanics and receiver play. His material is very comprehensive, fully illustrated, and very detailed. A great value!
Rating: Summary: Great book, but... Review: Excellent, best-of-breed books on the West Coast offense, especially for those who haven't lived in the system from ground zero as a player or a coach. HS coaches should beware...the WCO works well, BUT only if you have a stellar athlete/passer as a QB and at least one receiver w/great speed who is capable of consuming the cushion, tracking the ball, and acting as a complete deep threat. The strength of the WCO (the desired traits in the QB and WR) is also its achilles heel, in the same way as the WCO's mirror-opposite, the wishbone (you must have a dominating FB who can draw defenders at the point of attack). Given the paucity of talented QBs who are able to throw 40 - 70 yards with great accuracy consistently and WRs who demand and get consistent double coverage, it would behoove you to think twice about installing the WCO at the HS level. If you make the mistake of pushing the WCO as a template on a HS team w/out the QB and WR, you are going to be in for a long and painful season. Defensive backs will congregate in the short zones, defensive coaches will send 6 - 7 defenders in full blitz, and if your QB isn't mobile you can count on numerous sacks, missed throwes, interceptions, or an injured QB (the shotgun, a favorite in the WCO, only delays the agony). Good luck, and this book is as good as it gets for the HS coach seeking to implement the WCO.
Rating: Summary: Just heard the author speak at the Irvine Mega clinic Review: I just heard coach Jenkins speak at the Irvine Mega Clinic and he was probably the best speaker there. I don't think he even mentioned his books, but I bought all three. His books are the best out there, bar none! I highly recommend all three of his books.

Rating: Summary: Lucky to get a copy........ Review: The book was a gift from one of my assistant coaches who is trying to get me to use this system. Although I am very set in my ways, the book does make me think. It's very well written, with a lot of great information. In my view, this is most likely the best football book on the market today. I am a "run first" football coach, but the Jenkins' pass system seems extremely easy to learn and teach. He lays out the basic QB reads, and is making a believer out of me now. There seems so much that can be learned from this book, that I have to put it down at times to digest all the information. The added quarterback section is also one of the best I have ever seen on the passing game. This QB section could be a book all by itself. As I stated before, this is probably the best book on the market today, with respect to offensive football!
Rating: Summary: KUDOS!!! An excellent book that is a MUST have... Review: This is truly a great book. Well put together in all aspects. The in depth view on quarterback mechanics, route running for recievers make this a must have. Not to mention, Mr Jenkins breaks down the west coast offense better than any book to date. He leaves room for creativity, yet it's still the same system. The call sheet in the front of the book, and the free plays in the back are definately a bonus. For you defensive coaches, the chapter on O-line protection will definately enhance your blitz preparation for any team. Not to mention, it will better help your game plan in general of how to better control the game on the defensive side of the ball.
