Summary: Valuable information.
Review: Gil Gilpatrick's Canoe Guide's Handbook is a "must have" for anyone interested in canoe trips. It's not just for people who want to become canoe guides. My wife and I regularly canoe the waters of Southeast Alaska. We have found Gil's book to be as useful and practical in Alaska as it is in Gil's home state of Maine. I've used this easy to read and down-to-earth book to help plan several canoe camping trips. The information and techniques presented are simple and effective.

Summary: The best advice on canoe tripping I,ve read.
Review: This book gives the best advice for wilderness canoeists that I,ve read in my 28 yrs. of paddling. I.ve just met the author on a wilderness canoe trip in Maine and he mentioned wishing to make a few revisions and updates concerning environmental pollution. It's great to know that he and his wife are still running canoe trips in Maine. I recommend all his books to anyone interested in outdoor woodcraft, and the history of the Maine Woods.
