Rating: Summary: Two Gloves Up for Lindsay's book! Review: Boxing enthusiasts and general readers alike will appreciate the depth and scope of this volume. The author's introduction explains the extensive research which underlies his presentation. Lindsay's several years of library investigation is supplemented by peer research at otherwise inaccessible locations. The result: an impressive catalogue of statistics which trace professional boxers' records extending more than three decades. One can consult "Boxing in Black and White" as a reference book, locating a specific fighter's set of stats. One can, additionally, use the volume to compare trends. Of course, Lindsay delineates all these data to address the key issue: whether--and to what extent--racial identity was a factor in professional boxing. Don't miss the index; the entries show Lindsay's thorough work and make for easy cross-referencing. I am delighted to have a copy of this book in my personal library--and I am neither a boxing fan nor a statistician.
