Review: Real baseball enthusiasts will find Mr. Steinberg's book more than just a compilation of photographs. That is not to say the photos, many rare and unique, are not a terrific way to bring baseball in St. Louis from 1900 to 1925 to vivid life. But each photo and each section is accompanied by a rich text that adds to a reader's enjoyment. I especially liked the photos and discussion of the important sports reporters and columnists of the day. It is unlikely anyone has highlighted them in this fashion before. So don't write this wonderfully researched and documented book off as merely a series of captioned photographs. It is clearly much, much more.

Review: SInce its called images of baseball, maybe I should have expected this, but the book is basicall just pictures of players with a paragraph next to the picture.
