Rating: Summary: DO NOT GIVE THIS TO YOUR CHILD! Review: First of all, Jeff Gordon is a known racist (a quick Google search will prove me correct) and after reading this book to my child my child started exhibiting inherently racist behavior.
"On the track Gordon is known for his hard-driving style, his will to win... His performance makes the opposition feel bad..."
My six year old began FORCING HIS WILL on other boys and girls playing in our neighborhood because he thought he was Jeff Gordon. Other parents began complaining! At his BoyScout soapbox derby he was seen laughing at an African American man helping his son attach a new tire. He told them "YOU CAN'T RACE LIKE JEFF GORDON DOES." When I asked him why he said that so cruely he said "JEFF MAKES EVERYONE IN HIS WAY FEEL BAD! AND BESIDES, BLACKS PIMP RIDES, NOT RACE THEM. JEFF RACES LIKE A REAL MAN!" (I have written a letter to MTV about airing re-runs of this show "Pimp My Ride" during the after-school hours, trust me). And while won the race, I'm not sure I like HOW he won. I am concerned that GETTING "ON THE TRACK" with Jeff Gordon is teaching my impressionable son a program teeming with sugar-coated theories of Racism and Eugenics!
"He [Jeff] wasn't very successful at first. The other kids were simply bigger and stronger than he was, and he had a hard time keeping up. When Jeff got ***PISSED*** by the other racers or cut off going around a corner he became frustrated..."
NOW THIS SIMPLE TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR IS ANOTHER PROBLEM! Haphazard, sloppy, city-slick editing has left this one little seed of aggression and misbehavior to nest inside my sons head and now look at what's become of him! This language teaches HATE! Instead of being passed, this book portrays Jeff Gordon HATING those in his way and RISING TO THE TOP.
This book also references midgets, reckless behavior and drinking and covorting with loose women. READ BETWEEN THE LINES PARENTS: JEFF GORDON WANTS YOUR SON TO GET ON TRACK WITH A VERITABLE SMATTERING OF HATE, RACISM ILL-BEHAVIORS UNDER THE GUISE OF SPORTS CAR RACING AND MID-WESTERN FUNNING-AROUND.
Rating: Summary: A fast biography of a speedster! Review: Jeff Gordon is one of the lucky ones who found his passion at an early age - took to it & never looked back. From BMX bicycles to 2.85-horsepower midgets to go-carts to open sprint cars with 650-horsepower engines pushing these little cars beyond 140 miles per hour, Jeff Gordon ate it all up & kept racing & winning. With black & white photographs, graphs of statistics, Career Highlights, technical data about all sorts of auto-racing & short, engaging histories of the various forms of auto-racing, the rest of the book, as they say, is history. By the age of 21 he had become NASCAR's Rookie of the Year, breaking records, driving safely, losing some & winning most. A plainly written autobiography of one of today's great drivers & heroes.
