Summary: Great Read!
Review: I love Omar - and reading this book made me love him even more! It's a fun book to read because it's filled with great Omar stories, all written in a very "conversational" tone. The co-author is Bob Dyer, a local newspaper columnist, who I have long thought to be a terrific writer. You will love this book! (His new video is great, too!)

Summary: A must for any OMAR fan!

Summary: A REAL GOOD READ
Review: OMAR DOES A GOOD JOB OF DESCRIBING HIS LIFE AND CAREER ON AND OFF THE FIELD. HE COVERS MANY INTERESTING TOPICS AMONG THEM, ALBERT BELLE'S CORKED BAT, ARTHUR RHODES (BLING-BLING) EARRINGS, WORLD SERIES, AND HIS TEAMATES. ALSO HIS HOUSE IN SEATTLE SOUNDS LIKE A KNOCKOUT. HIS INSIGHTS AND THOUGHTS ON MANY TOPICS MAKE THIS A VERY GOOD AND INTERESTING BOOK. FOR ALL INDIANS FANS AND FOR THOSE WHO APPRECIATE ONE OF THE GREATEST SHORTSTOPS OF OUR TIME.
VERY RECOMMENDED.

Summary: Great Golden Glove
Review: Omar has continued his fantastic career from Seattle to Cleveland...I plan to ask him to sign it, then will present it to Seattle pitcher Arthur Rhodes and see his reaction.

Summary: "Omar!" Not As Golden As His Glove
Review: Omar Vizquel has been my favorite player since I first saw him beat out a bunt base hit as a Seattle Mariner when I was fifteen. I've followed his career and enjoyed his play ever since. Unfortunately for Omar Vizquel fans, his enthusiasm for baseball, family, art, music and cultural exchange are lost amidst anecdotes about teammates and endless detail about his many possessions.

Vizquel and the journalist, Bob Dyer have written not so much an autobiography as an expose, as they offer brief tantalizing glimpses into Omar's personal experiences only to immediately move to gossip. For instance, the story of a former teammate's wedding goes on for several paragraphs - his own several sentences; they tell us a former major leaguer was very important in his life - but don't tell us why. It's a shame for readers that the authors' candor did not extend to the supposed subject of "Omar!"

I found this book thoroughly disappointing and a very unsatisfactory read. Let's be thankful we don't have to read his book to watch Omar Vizquel work magic on the baseball diamond.

Summary: Vizquel relates in his own words the story of his life
Review: Omar! My Life On And Off The Field is the autobiography of Omar Vizquel, one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball and a crucial member the Cleveland Indian team. Vizquel has earned nine consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Awards and holds the highest career fielding percentage of anyone in his post. In this autobiography, written with the assistance of Bob Dyer, Vizquel relates in his own words the story of his life beginning with his childhood in Venezuela down to playing in Game Seven of the World Series. Omar! offers a superb glimpse into the life of a master sports player and is highly recommended reading for baseball fans everywhere.

Summary: Great Read!
Review: This book has all kinds of good inside stuff about players like Albert
Belle and Manny Ramirez. It's not only a great read for hard-core baseball fans, but casual fans will like it, too, because Omar has an amazing life off the field. He's a serious painter, does standup comedy, designs his own clothing, plays paintball, etc., etc. The color photos are awesome, too. Best sports book I've seen in years

Summary: Omarvelous!
Review: This is book is an informative, insightful and funny look into the life of one of the game's greatest. Omar also provides behind-the-scenes look at the Cleveland Indians. He goes all the way back to his childhood and tracks his way through the minor and major leagues. This book has caused controversy with former Indians Albert Belle and Jose Mesa, but I feel that they overreacted. The controversy does not put a damper on a great book! A must for any baseball fan!
